ZEN GARDEN
UX & UI - MATCH 3 GAME APP DESIGN
OVERVIEW
Design exploration of UX and UI of game menu systems. This exercise is an attempt at understanding design, colour, layout, texture, lighting and composition as well as knowledge of game menu UX.
Puzzle games have always been popular and are a mobile gaming staple. ‘Match 3’ games such as Candy Crush have proved to be some of the most successful titles in recent years.
I designed my own Match 3 game and the theme is an oriental fantasy/mystical garden. I chose this theme as it is a more unique take on other puzzle games out there and I felt this style lends itself well to showing texture, light and shade. I designed wireframes for the In-Game screen and a Global and Local Leaderboard.

THE CHALLENGE
Design wireframes for the In-Game screen of my Match 3 game and a Global and Local Leaderboard.
Define the structure for these screens, making sure to include all the relevant information for the player; such as scores, avatars, navigation buttons etc.
Take my wireframes for the In-Game screen and Leaderboard screen and apply an art style to it and exercise my ability to design 2D skeuomorphic design with particular attention to light, shade and texture.
